Dreamland’s infamous deviant and glutton is well-known for his ability to copy his opponent’s powers and use it against them. He’s also rather popular among women…or so I hear.
The pink and round blob is as cheerful as ever!
So what has changed with Kirby in SD Remix? While many of the differences seem minor at first, this iteration of Kirby is not to be taken lightly!
He slides more!
His hops are shorter!
He’s even stronger!
Veteran players will notice the differences immediately and will be sure to appreciate the extra boost in attack speed and mobility. Untrained eyes should stay weary lest Kirby makes you his next snack!
The Down Smash Attack always sends horizontally now.
Rumor has it these Back Throws “chain” on certain opponents…
Speaking of throws – all of Kirby’s throw moves are now inescapable. Use them to your advantage!
Fox seems awfully calm about this!
<Standard Special Move: Swallow>
Kirby’s Swallow allows you to copy the Standard Special Move of your opponents, including the changes made to those moves in SD Remix!
Too bad! Kirby’s Giant Punch missed! Is this the end?!
Don’t worry Kirby! You’ll get him yet!
Moves copied by Kirby can no longer be removed by chance from hitting him: opponents need to either KO Kirby or wait until he taunts. Although if he taunts near the edge of the stage, he might be too quick to punish…

As much as I love this Kirby, the grab at ledge is too promoting to defensive play. Once you’re up a stock the game is very very close to over when against this guy.

I’ve found that it’s pretty obvious when Kirby’s trying to camp edge. If that’s the case, you can just projectile spam, outrange, or attack in such a way that you end up behind Kirby.

By “outrange”, I mean if you have a character like Marth that can easily poke at Kirby’s shield so you can avoid shield grabs. Also, you can try and break Kirby’s shield if they’re low. You can keep engaging Kirby at a distance so that Kirby would have to go away from the Kirbycide area.

Those throws, get up a stock and camp. Kirby is the new gimmicky character! Planking like jigs, guarantee kills like Icies. Whats not to love! Provided your not the one fighting him….only answer I’ve found to it is climbers. Since grab game is very hard on them. While agree that the grabs shouldnt be easily escapable 100% of the time, he shouldnt be able to commit suicide with you like he does….. atleaaast make the kirby die first..right now he can suicide grab you 4 times and win?

Even if Kirby’s opponent makes it easy for Kirby to Kirbycide by always attacking in a way that makes shield grabbing super simple, there’s a bunch of characters in the cast where you can’t just win by Kirbyciding, since sometimes Kirby dies first or at the same time as certain other characters.
If you’re still having problems, a flowchart way you can avoid the Kirbycide is just to use Fox or Falco, since no one can shield grab Fox or Falco if the SHFFL->Shine is on point.

My $0.02 is:
• Give Hammer ~4 frames more start-up and like 1 extra frame cooldown
• Kirbycide via throws is impossible (except the high platform one)
– Up throw reliably lands on platforms above Kirby.
– This makes up throw a reliable KO move
• Kirbycide via Inhale:
– If Kirby goes to the blast line, he goes into free fall
– If opponent breaks out, Kirby loses jumps.
– This makes it so Kirby can still Kirbycide via Inhale, but it isn’t 100% safe.
• Stone OP plz nerf. More startup, less KBG
Who agrees?
